Iced Tea For The Communi-Tea!

Last month we were delighted to join Dorset based charity, Room to Reward, at their fantastic beach-side fundraiser. We offered refreshing iced tea to those taking part in a wellness day of yoga, pilates, paddleboarding and fitness talks!

The charity was set up to make use of the staggering 140,000 unused hotel rooms that sit empty every night across the UK! By partnering with over 700 hotels across the country, as well as charities and community groups, Room to Reward has enabled these rooms to be gifted to unsung heroes within the community. Hidden heroes can be nominated to receive a well-deserved short break, meaning the recipient gets a ‘thank you’ and what can amount to £5 billion in wasted assets, is being used for a valuable cause. Since being set up in 2015, over £550,000 worth of breaks in unsold rooms have been donated to more than 1300 volunteers!

Last month the charity launched their first ever ‘Relax to Reward’ fundraising day and we went along to support them as part of our ‘Communi-Tea’ initiative. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with light bites from the Noisy Lobster and a refreshing glass of iced tea made by... us! We chose to start the day with our refreshing Green Tea Spritz. Here’s how we made it…

Green Tea Spritz

  • Place 4 Dorset Tea Green Tea & Sunshine Lemon tea bags in a jug or pitcher
  • Cover with freshly boiled water so that it just covers the tea bags
  • Allow the tea to infuse for 3-5 minutes and then remove
  • Top up with chilled lemonade
  • Dress with freshly sliced lemons and ice

The iced tea was a hit and one yoga-loving lady even told us that ‘it really is a cup of sunshine’! It was lovely to see people enjoying the versatility of our fruit and herbals teas.

As the day went on, everyone enjoyed yoga of every kind – holistic, nidra, vinyasa flow, mindful flow, ashtanga and even paddleboard yoga! There was then a guided meditation, sound bath, dynamic pilates and a cacao ceremony. The grand finale was a sunset silent disco yoga session featuring tunes from The Hush Club. We rounded the evening off with some more iced tea – this time mixed with vodka donated from local distillery Black Cow, based in West Dorset. This is what we made:

Strawberry Fields

  • Place 4 Dorset Tea Strawberries & Cream teabags in a jug or pitcher
  • Cover with freshly boiled water so that it just covers the tea bags
  • Allow the tea to infuse for 3-5 minutes and then remove
  • Add 100ml of Black Cow & English Strawberries vodka (optional)
  • Top up with chilled lemonade or soda water (depending on taste)
  • Dress with ice and fresh strawberries

Wild About Mojitos

  • Place 4 Dorset Tea Wild About Mint teabags in a jug or pitcher
  • Cover with freshly boiled water so that it just covers the tea bags
  • Allow the tea to infuse for 3-5 minutes and then remove
  • Add the juice of 3 fresh limes and a handful of mint leaves and mix
  • Add 100ml of Black Cow vodka (optional)
  • Top up with chilled lemonade or soda water (depending on taste)
  • Dress with ice and fresh limes.

The cocktails were a hit and it was great to be able to share yet another way that people can enjoy the flavours of our fruit & herbal infusions.

We were delighted to support Room to Reward's afternoon of wellbeing with Dorset Tea. We love what the charity stands for, and hope that our cups of sunshine brought as much joy to guests as Room to Reward do to their deserving hidden heroes.

Kate Wood, Fundraising Relationship Executive at Room to Reward said “I’d like to say a huge thank to all the instructors and organisations who supported the event. Their amazing support made this wonderful event possible”.
